University of Southern Indiana junior Jack Joyce has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of men’s tennis, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Joyce went a combined 4-0 to lead the No. 28 Screaming Eagles to a pair of Midwest Region wins this past weekend. He was 2-0 in singles play, posting straight-set victories at No. 1 singles over Tiffin University’s Luis Ludena and Walsh University’s Pablo Cabezon.

Joyce also paired with junior Joel Stern for a pair of 8-3 wins at No. 2 doubles.  His efforts helped USI earn a 9-0 win over Tiffin and a 7-2 win over Walsh.

For the season, Joyce is a combined 17-3 overall, including 9-1 in singles play and 8-2 in doubles play. In dual action, Joyce is a perfect 3-0 at No. 1 singles and is 2-1 in doubles competition.

A native of Bournemouth, England, this is Joyce’s first career weekly award and the first for a Screaming Eagle since Ben Boesing was recognized by the league on April 2, 2013.
