University of Southern Indiana senior distance runner Julia Kohnen and Lewis University senior pole vaulter Rebecca Priesler have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday. 

In the first attempt at the distance on the track, Kohnen finished second in the 5,000 meters last Friday at the Grand Valley Big Meet in 16:41.81. Her time ranks fourth on the NCAA Division II list, first in the GLVC, and third in USI program history behind national champions Mary Ballinger and Heather Cooksey.

This is the first indoor weekly award for Kohnen, but the Florissant, Missouri, native garnered three weekly honors this past fall in cross country.
