University of Southern Indiana senior forward/center Anna Hackert has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Hackert averaged 24.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game to lead the Screaming Eagles to conference wins over East Division foes Indianapolis and Saint Joseph’s this past week.

Hackert began the week by scoring a season-high 35 points and pulling down 16 rebounds in USI’s 68-49 victory over Indianapolis. She scored 25 points in the second half, including 17 in the final nine minutes that saw the Eagles turn a 42-41 lead into the 19-point win. Hackert was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field and 9-of-9 from the free throw line in the second half.

She returned to the court in USI’s 71-31 win over Saint Joseph’s to score 14 points and grab six rebounds in just 24 minutes of action. Hackert became the first player in school history to eclipse the 300-rebound plateau in a single season as she pulled to within eight rebounds of USI’s all-time career record of 961, held by GLVC and USI Hall of Famer LeAnn Freeland.

For the week, Hackert shot 70.8 percent from the field on 17-of-24 shooting and was 15-of-16 (.938) from the charity stripe. She leads the Eagles with 16.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per game on the year.

The Evansville, Indiana, native earns the fifth weekly honor of the season, including her third in the last four weeks.  She was honored on Feb. 2 and 9, as well as Nov. 24 and Dec. 15, 2014 earlier this season.  This is the eighth accolade of her career.
