Bellarmine University senior sprinter Meghan Jones and William Jewell College junior jumper Margaret Perko have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.
Perko won the long jump at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge with a provisional qualifying mark of 5.57 meters (18' 3.25"). The meet featured five of the 12 GLVC schools that sponsor track & field, including Drury, Maryville, Missouri S&T, Truman State. Her jump broke the school record that was set earlier in the season by her teammate, Gretchen Mayes. She is currently ranked first in the GLVC with her mark.
The Carlisle, Massachusetts, native earns her first career award.
