Lewis University freshman Nora Mindiyarova has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of women’s tennis, the conference announced Thursday.
Against Walsh University, Mindiyarova earned a No. 1 singles and doubles victory 6-0, 6-2 and 8-4, respectively, which helped lead Lewis to a 5-4 team win last Monday. The first-year Flyer handled Sofya Logunova after combining for the doubles victory over Logunova and Alona Skobkina with sophomore Ana Banic.
This was Lewis’ first victory of the season and the Moscow, Russia, native holds a two-match win streak in both singles and doubles action. She is 9-4 overall in singles and 7-3 in doubles, including perfect 2-0 marks at both No. 1 singles and doubles in dual action.
This is her first career weekly honor and first for a Flyer since Zsofia Lanstiak was selected April 8, 2014.
