Bellarmine University senior Anton Rabinov has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of men’s tennis, the conference announced Friday.

In three team victories this week, including a pair over league opponents, Rabinov went a combined 6-0 in No. 1 singles and doubles play. On February 28, the senior guided BU’s 5-4 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) University with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Alejandro Soriano, who is ranked 21st overall in the ITA NAIA national rankings and fifth in the East region. Rabinov claimed another triumph with partner Alan Gardiner, defeating Soriano and Zach Baulch 8-4 in doubles play.

On March 1, the senior was once again the catalyst for a 5-4 Knights win, this time over Missouri-St. Louis. He and Gardiner edged Harry Heyburn and Irving Corrales 9-8 (9-7) before capturing a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Nils Mueggenberg. Later on Sunday, Rabinov capped a perfect weekend of individual and team tennis when he rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 win over Truman State’s Jake Ohlhausen and also teamed with Gardiner for an 8-5 victory over Ohlhausen and Griffin Smith, leading to a 9-0 victory past the Bulldogs. Rabinov is now a perfect 5-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles action.
