Bellarmine University senior Hannah Daunhauer and University of Illinois Springfield sophomore Taylor Bowlby were named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, in the sport of softball, the conference office announced Monday.
Daunhauer led the Knights to a 5-1 record last week by smacking four homers and driving in nine runs while hitting .471 with an on-base percentage of .550 and posting a slugging percentage of 129.4 percent. The senior centerfielder reached base safely in five of the six games and scored five runs. After her solo shot against William Jewell, Daunhauer turned up her game on the road. In the first game against S&T, she went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI. In the nightcap, she repeated her 2-for-3 performance. The following day at Drury, the senior right-hander drove in all five BU runs with a pair of homers and a double. She also drew a walk to reach base safely in all four plate appearances.
This is the Evansville, Indiana, native's first career weekly honor. She is the first Knight to earn the accolade since February 18, 2013 when Megan Murdoch was selected.
