William Jewell College senior outfielder Luke Lucchetti and University of Indianapolis sophomore pitcher Jordan Tackett have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Lucchetti helped the Cardinals to a 4-2 record last week with a non-conference sweep over Lincoln (Mo.) and a conference series split against Truman State by going 10-for-14 (.714) at the plate with two-hit efforts in each of the five games he played.  Half of Lucchetti’s 10 hits went for extra bases as he registered two home runs, two doubles and a triple on the week, scoring five times and posting nine runs batted in.  He was walked just once and suffered only one strikeout at the plate.  Lucchetti netted a slugging percentage of 1.429 and an on-base percentage of .688 for the week.

The Yorkville, Illinois, native becomes the first Cardinal to ever be named GLVC Player of the Week, although three Jewell hurlers have been honored as GLVC Pitcher of the Week, the last with Preston Felgate on March 24, 2014.
