University of Indianapolis senior Brooke Boyts has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the sport of women’s tennis, the conference announced Tuesday.
Boyts was nearly perfect in two matches over the weekend, shutting out both No. 5 singles opponents and one of two doubles foes. On March 27, she began with Selenay Hepere for an 8-4 No. 3 doubles win over Elizabeth Wilm and Jennifer Mizikar. Later the senior helped close out the 9-0 team win at Southern Indiana with a 6-0, 6-0 toppling of Mizikar at No. 5 singles. The following day in a 5-0 team win at Illinois Springfield, Boyts was perfect as she got the 8-0 No. 2 doubles win past Janasha and Neena Prabhu and followed that by defeating N. Prabhu 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
This is the Goshen, Indiana, native’s first career weekly honor and the first for a Greyhound this season, as the last UIndy honoree came on March 18, 2014
