University of Southern Indiana junior Tyler Schickel and Missouri S&T senior Joe Vellella have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday.

Schickel finished third in the 5,000 meters last weekend at the Washington University (St. Louis) Invitational, crossing the line in 14 minutes, 32.47 seconds.  His time ranks second in the conference this season and is currently 12th nationally.

This is the second weekly honor for the Poseyville, Indiana, native as he was also recognized on May 2, 2014.
