University of Southern Indiana junior outfielder Kyle Kempf and junior pitcher Alex Holder have been respectively named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week in the sport of baseball, the conference office announced Monday.

Kempf led the Screaming Eagles to a 4-2 week, including a 3-of-4 series win over the University of Indianapolis. In addition to hitting a team-best .526 (10-of-19) with five runs scored and second on the team with six RBIs, Kempf posted four multi-hit games, highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort with three RBI, a homer, and two runs scored an 11-7 loss to UIndy on Saturday.  He was also 3-for-6 with three RBI, a triple, and one run scored in the Eagles’ 8-7 win over Bellarmine on Wednesday, while also connecting on the game-winning single in the 10th inning to earn the victory.

A hometown native of Evansville, Indiana, Kempf earns his second career weekly honor as his first came nearly one year ago on April 8, 2014, which was the last time a USI player was recognized by the league.
