University of Southern Indiana junior Johnnie Guy and Missouri S&T junior Peter Simpson have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday.

Simpson won the javelin at the Southwest Baptist Invitational over the weekend with a mark of 187’ 3”, which ranks first in the conference this season. 

The St. Louis, Missouri, native earns his first career honor and is now the third straight Miner to earn GLVC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week dating back to last season.  Joe Vellella took home the season’s first award last week while Ryan McGuire earned last year’s final accolade on May 2, 2014.
