Truman State University junior Dominic Kacich and Missouri S&T junior Trevor King have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday.
Kacich placed first, ran a personal best, and achieved an NCAA provisional time in the 400-meter dash last weekend at the Jim Duncan Invitational, hosted by Drake University. He earned the title in 47.62 seconds, nearly a half a second better than his previous best time in the event as he crossed the finish line ahead of 21 other runners. That time tied the 10th fastest in Division II and is the fastest to date by a GLVC competitor. In addition, the St. Louis, Missouri, native placed third in the 200 meters with a head-wind time of 21.97.
Ths is the first weekly honor for the Truman track and field program.
