University of Southern Indiana senior Julia Kohnen and University of Indianapolis senior thrower Farin Hickman have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced recently by the league office.
Kohnen cut the tape in 35 minutes, 2.33 seconds in the 10,000 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays last week – a mark that ranks second in the GLVC and seventh nationally.
Hickman threw an NCAA automatic mark and finished second at the Cardinal Invitational last week, which was contested on the campus of Ball Sate University. Her mark is the best among GLVC competitors, a new university record, and second among the NCAA D-II performance list. Hickman followed up her effort with a third place finish in the shot put with an improvement upon her provisional mark of 14.19 meters, ranking first among GLVC competitors and among the top 15 nationally.
