University of Southern Indiana senior Skylair Hilton and University of Indianapolis freshman thrower Katie Monk have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced Thursday by the league office.
Hilton finished third in the 5,000 meters at the Hillsdale Gina Relays on Friday in 16 minutes, 34.27 seconds. Her time is the second fastest result in the conference this season and currently ranks eighth nationally in Division II.
Monk finished first among collegiate throwers in the discus contested at the Bellarmine Classic this past weekend. She is currently ranked second among GLVC competitors and among the top 12 on the latest NCAA performance list. In addition, she concluded the competition with top-eight finishes in the hammer throw (46.10m) and shot put (12.92m), which ranks her among the top five heading into the GLVC championships.
