University of Southern Indiana senior distance runner Hunter Motz and University of Indianapolis junior thrower Vincent Ziraldo have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced Thursday by the conference office.

Motz won the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday at the Hillsdale Gina Relays in 9 minutes 2.89 seconds, a time that ranks him tops among GLVC marks and 15th in NCAA Division II.

Ziraldo finished second among collegiate throwers at the Bellarmine Classic this past weekend in the hammer throw. His toss of 58.51 meters is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks first among GLVC competitors and among the top 20 in Division II.
