University of Indianapolis senior Alex Cushman and sophomore Kieran Casey have been named the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Runners of the Week for the 2015 men's and women's cross country season, it was announced by the Conference office on Wednesday.
On the women's side, Casey led three Greyhounds in the top six at the Cincinnati Queen City Invitational, crossing the line second with a personal-best 6K time of 22:08.9. The time was 14 seconds better than her previous best set at last year's NCAA Regional Preview. The Indianapolis, Indiana native's efforts helped the Greyhounds to a runner-up finish in the 14-team field.
This is Casey's first career weekly honor and the first for a UIndy runner since Sutton Knapp was recognized on Sept. 10, 2013.
