Rockhurst University sophomore midfielder Claudio Romano and redshirt junior goalkeeper Remi Bibal have garnered Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in the sport of men's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Romano was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Bibal was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Bibal tallied a pair of clean sheets over the weekend, helping the Rangers get off to their best start in league play since 2006. The redshirt junior made five saves in 90 minutes of work on Friday, collecting the shutout in his first start of the season before turning away six shots in 96 minutes of action on Sunday as UWP escaped Indianapolis with a 1-0 overtime win. This is the Toulouse, France, product's first career weekly selection and first defensive selection for UWP since Marco Perez was chosen on September 29, 2014.
