McKendree University senior quarterback Isaac Fisher and junior linebacker A.J. Wentland, as well as Southwest Baptist University freshman defensive back Jaylen Jones have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Fisher was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Wentland was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Jones was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fisher opened his senior season in record-breaking fashion as he led McKendree to a 50-27 non-conference victory at West Liberty University. He broke a school record he set a year ago by throwing six touchdown passes in the Bearcats' 23-point victory. The Washington, Illinois, native finished the day by completing 27-of-37 pass attempts for 353 yards to go along with those six touchdowns. He set a new career-best by throwing a 67-yard touchdown pass Tyler Brewer late in the second quarter. Fisher also ran the ball effectively in the triumph as he rushed for a game-high 125 yards on 16 carries. The rushing yardage total was just one yard shy of his career high. He was involved in 53 of the Bearcats' 88 plays on the day and accounted for 478 yards of total offense by himself. It also marked the most yards of total offense that one player has put up against West Liberty since the 2009 season. Saturday's victory was the first by McKendree in a road opener since 2009 as well.  Fisher earns the second weekly honor of his career as his Nov. 10, 2014 honor was also the first-ever for a McKendree offensive standout.
