McKendree University senior quarterback Isaac Fisher, Missouri S&T sophomore linebacker Austin Truvillion, and Lincoln University senior kick returner Vanzell Richardson have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Fisher was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Truvillion was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Richardson was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Truvillion had a team-high 15 tackles (six solo, nine assisted) and 2.5 stops for loss to lead the Miners to a 10-7 win in their GLVC opener at Truman State, which was also just S&T's second victory over the Bulldogs in the last 26 meetings between the teams. The Miners blanked the Bulldogs over the final three quarters and allowed only 187 yards of total offense, including four possessions of three plays or less, and forced two of Truman's three turnovers in the game (the third came on special teams). The Kansas City, Missouri native earns his first career weekly honor and is the first Miner defender to be recognized by the league since Zach Melber on Oct. 6, 2014.
