McKendree University senior quarterback Isaac Fisher, Missouri S&T sophomore linebacker Austin Truvillion, and Lincoln University senior kick returner Vanzell Richardson have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Fisher was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Truvillion was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Richardson was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Fisher led the Bearcats to a 27-24, come-from-behind victory at home on Saturday in non-conference play against Northwood University. For the second consecutive game, Fisher accounted for more than 400 yards of total offense by himself, piling up 433 yards on the day. He was 29-of-44 through the air for 369 yards while rushing for a team-best 65 yards against the Timberwolves. It was Fisher's fifth career game with 300 or more passing yards, and his second in a row. In addition, the 369 passing yards by Fisher was his second-highest total in his four seasons at McKendree. With the Bearcats trailing 24-13 early in the fourth quarter, Fisher directed a pair of scoring drives to enable McKendree to remain undefeated on the year. First he matched a career-high (set one week earlier) by throwing a 67-yard touchdown pass to Cameron James to bring the Bearcats within 24-19. Then with 2:28 on the clock, Fisher hooked up with James against for the game-winning score, a 26-yard TD pass. The Washington, Illinois native, who is currently ranked third in NCAA Division II in total offense, earns his second straight weekly honor and the third award of his career with his first coming on Nov. 10, 2014.
