McKendree University sophomore forward Chelsea Whittaker and Bellarmine University senior defender Jordan Major have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in the sport of women's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday. 

Whittaker was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Major was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Whittaker scored five points this week on her way to helping McKendree to a pair of wins. The sophomore scored two goals in a span of four and a half minutes on Friday in a 4-2 win over William Jewell. Her second goal was the game-winning goal of the match. On Sunday, Whittaker dished out the assist on the game-winning goal to teammate Danielle Hareb in the 55th minute to lead the Bearcats to the 1-0 win over Rockhurst. The forward has started in all six games for McK this season and has scored three goals with two assists. She is currently leading the team in goals and points. 

The Dunedin, New Zealand, native's first career weekly honor is also the first Bearcat's offensive selection since October 7, 2013 for Alyssa Reiniger.
