Quincy University junior midfielder Taylor Reis and Bellarmine University sophomore defender Mike Albes have garnered Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in the sport of men's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Reis was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Albes was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Not only was Albes a significant influence on Bellarmine's defense allowing a single goal this weekend in two victories, the defender also collected assists on both of the Knights' game-winning goals. In Friday's 1-0 triumph over Drury, the sophomore made a cross to Joe Workman, leading to the decisive goal in the 64th minute. On Sunday, with the score knotted at 1-1 against Missouri S&T, Albes lofted a pass from the left wing to Beau Laufer, who headed the ball into the net in the 63rd minute of a 2-1 victory. The latter marked the third straight match in which Albes recorded an assist on a game-winning goal. He helped guide a defensive effort in which the Knights shut out the Panthers by allowing a single shot on goal. He also contributed to the blanking of the Miners in the first half before his assist helped the Knights rally to victory after halftime. This is the St. Louis, Mo., product's first career weekly selection and first defensive selection for BU since Blake Hunter was chosen on October 7, 2013.
