Lewis University junior Amanda Farrough has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week in women's cross country, it was announced by the Conference office on Tuesday.
Farrough won the 5,000-meter College Division race and finished second overall at Notre Dame's National Catholic Championships, with a personal record time of 17 minutes, 32 seconds. That performance was only bested by two-time Foot Locker National Champion in Notre Dame's Anna Roher (17:20.7). Farrough's time was 39 seconds faster than the next best NCAA Division II runner, a 19-second improvement on her previous best, and currently the quickest 5K time in the conference this season. As a team, the Flyers placed third overall with 91 points.
The South Bend, Indiana, native earns her third career weekly award as she was also recognized on Sept. 17, 2013 and Oct. 21, 2014 – the last time a Flyer was honored.
