Southwest Baptist University sophomore running back Bubba Jenkins, Missouri S&T redshirt freshman linebacker Landon Compton, and McKendree University junior kicker Steven O’Block have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Jenkins was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Compton was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while O’Block was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

O'Block had a busy day in the Bearcats' 41-23 GLVC-opening win at William Jewell.  The Libertyville, Illinois, native had a perfect afternoon, converting all five of his extra point attempts as well as a pair of field goals against the Cardinals.  O'Block hit a 31-yard field goal in the first quarter that followed a 20-yard interception return by Kyle Kirkpatrick. He then closed out a 41-point first half for McKendree by drilling a season-long 38-yard field goal with 90 seconds left until the intermission.  This is the O’Block’s first career weekly award and he is the first McKendree special teams standout to be honored since Cameron James on Nov. 18, 2013.
