Northern Kentucky University’s Braden Bishop (Centerville, Ohio) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. The sophomore forward recorded the game-winning goal for the Norse in their key league win at UIndy on Friday and helped his team to two wins on the week.
Bishop scored the only goal in the match at UIndy, providing the difference in NKU’s 1-0 win. He converted the goal on a free-kick play in the 14th minute of the first half. It was his team-leading ninth goal of the season and fourth game-winning goal of the year.
In NKU’s 3-1 win at Saint Joseph’s on Sunday, Bishop added two assists. He assisted on Tony Ray’s game-winning goal in the 19th minute and also had an assist on Seth Eckerlin’s insurance goal in the 62nd minute.
Bishop now has four assists to go with his nine goals this season and leads the Norse with 22 points on the year.
His efforts have helped the top-ranked Norse move to 14-0-0 on the season and clinch a spot in the GLVC Tournament.
The Norse will return home for matches against visiting Kentucky Wesleyan and Southern Indiana this weekend.
