Southwest Baptist University sophomore running back Bubba Jenkins, Missouri S&T redshirt freshman linebacker Landon Compton, and McKendree University junior kicker Steven O’Block have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Jenkins was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Compton was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while O’Block was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Compton had a team-high nine tackles in Saturday’s 39-27 win over Saint Joseph’s, including 3.5 tackles for a loss of 14 yards with a sack for a seven-yard loss and two pass breakups.  The Miners held the Pumas to 276 yards in the game and three offensive scores, which included keeping SJC off the scoreboard on one possession that started at the Miners’ three-yard line following a fumble.  On that possession, Compton made a tackle for a seven-yard loss on second down at the one-yard line.  The Lamar, Missouri native earns his first career weekly honor and is the second straight Miner defender to be recognized by the league as Austin Truvillion was selected last week.
