Southwest Baptist University sophomore running back Bubba Jenkins, Missouri S&T redshirt freshman linebacker Landon Compton, and McKendree University junior kicker Steven O’Block have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Jenkins was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Compton was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while O’Block was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Jenkins set the GLVC and Southwest Baptist single-game rushing record with 258 rushing yards in Bearcats’ 56-33 victory over Quincy on Saturday, besting the previous mark of 229 yards set by Truman’s Garrett White against SBU on Nov. 1, 2014.  Jenkins also added five rushing touchdowns (56, 30, 14, 2, 2 yards), tying the SBU single-game touchdown record.  He carried the ball 29 times and managed two receptions for 14 yards as well to total 285 all-purpose yards o the day. The Springfield, Missouri native, earns the first weekly award of his career and is the first SBU offensive standout to be honored since Willie Tindal on Sept. 15, 2014.
