Missouri S&T junior Eduardo Abichabki and Maryville University freshman Christian Kjaersgaard have garnered Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in the sport of men's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Abichabki was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Kjaersgaard was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.

Abichabki scored three goals on five shots in two wins, both of which saw him score the game-winning goal. The midfielder/forward scored the first two Miner goals in a 5-0 win over Illinois Springfield – a game in which the Miners tied their highest number of goals scored in a GLVC contest – tallying goals in the eighth and 31st minutes of the contest. On Sunday, he scored on a direct kick in the 86th minute to break a 1-1 tie that gave S&T its fourth win in its last five contests.

This is the Sao Jose do Rio Pardo, Brazil native's first career weekly honor and the first Miner to garner the offensive nod since 2011 when two S&T players earned the award, the most recent of which was Kyle Schraier on September 26.
