University of Missouri-St. Louis junior forward Miriam Taylor and Rockhurst University senior goalkeeper Caitlin Winschel have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in the sport of women's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Taylor was selected GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Winschel was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Taylor tallied an impressive eight points on three goals and two assists in wins over Drury and Missouri S&T, scoring the game-winner in both matches. Of her seven shots in the two games, six were on goal. In the 4-0 win past Drury, which sat ahead of the Tritons in league standings entering Friday's game, the junior scored two goals. She finished the first just 3:12 into the contest and added her second goal nine minutes later to put the Tritons up by three. Taylor also assisted on McKayla Harder's goal that put UMSL on top by two. The forward notched UMSL's second goal against S&T and added an assist in the 5-1 victory. UMSL has won four straight and moved up to third in the GLVC.
The Osage Beach, Mo., native's first career weekly honor is also the first Triton offensive selection since September 22, 2014 for Laura Hurlbut.
