The University of Missouri-Rolla’s Joffroi Holcombe (Alexandria, La.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Holcombe, a senior runner for the Miners, paced his team at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic on Saturday.
Holcombe helped the Miners to a sixth-place finish at the event by posting a time of 24:45 over the 8,000-meter course. The time was a personal best for Holcombe and allowed him to place 13th out of 341 runners at the meet.
The Miners were the top finishing non-Division I institution at the event that featured 42 teams and one of just two non-Division I schools to finish in the top ten. Harding finished ninth overall.
Holcombe battled hot and humid conditions to help his team post a final score of 226.
UMR, currently ranked 15th in Division II, will have a week off before returning for the GLVC Championships in Indianapolis on Oct. 20.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Northern Kentucky’s Zach Koehler and Southern Indiana’s Tristan Mannix.
