Drury University sophomore forward Charles Guelly and Rockhurst University junior defender Paul Dean have earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in the sport of men's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Guelly was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Dean was selected Defensive Player of the Week.
Guelly netted two goals and an assist on the week as he added the game-winner in a 3-2 win past Quincy and dished the pass for the Panthers' other game-winner in their 2-0 win over Truman State. The sophomore scored the first goal in the contest versus QU at the 28:27 mark from 12 yards out before knocking in the game-winner in the 79th minute. Drury's win over the Hawks was the first since 2009 and also avenged its season-ending loss in last year's NCAA DII Round of 16. The Panthers came into the contest 0-7-1 against QU in their last eight meetings, with all seven losses by one goal.
This is the Paris, France, native's first career weekly honor and the first Panther to garner the offensive nod since Alec Nagel was chosen on October 6, 2014.
