University of Indianapolis senior quarterback Connor Barthel and redshirt sophomore kicker Brad Schickel, along with William Jewell College freshman defensive back Justice Taylor, have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Barthel was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Taylor was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Schickel was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

With the score tied and just 1:58 remaining, Schickel knocked through the game winner with a 36-yard field goal in the big 34-24 road win at fellow league-leader McKendree.  Earlier in the day, Schickel got the Hounds on the board with a career-long 45 yarder in the first quarter. He finished with 10 points, going 2-for-2 on field goals hitting all four PAT kicks.  Schickel also handled punter duties, averaging 36.5 yards on four punts, including two he dropped inside the McKendree 20-yard line.  The is the Louisville, Kentucky native's first career award and the first for a UIndy special teams standout since Scott Miller was selected on Nov. 10, 2014.
