Lewis University junior Amanda Farrough has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week for women’s cross country, it was announced by the Conference office on Tuesday.
In addition to her GLVC accolade, Farrough was honored late Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the NCAA Division II Women’s National Athlete of the Week.
Farrough won her second race of the season in dominating fashion last week on her home course at Lewis’s Conference Crossover. She set a school record with a 6,000-meter time of 21 minutes, 5.21 seconds, which broke the program’s previous best of 21:06 set by Kasia Arient in 1998. The time also shattered the course record by 24 seconds, and her nearest competitor finished more than 13 second behind.
The South Bend, Indiana, native earns her fourth career weekly award as she was also recognized on Sept. 22, 2015, Oct. 21, 2014, and Sept. 17, 2013.
