University of Indianapolis senior Alex Cushman has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week for men’s cross country, it was announced by the Conference office on Tuesday.

Competing at last week’s Conference Crossover hosted by Lewis University, Cushman placed second in a field of 149 competitors with an 8,000-meter time of 24 minutes, 14 seconds.  His time was just three seconds off the winning mark, and 15 seconds better than his previous best. 

The Fort Wayne, Indiana native earns his third career weekly accolade as he was first honored on Oct. 22, 2013 and most recently on Sept. 9, 2015, which coincided with his U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Men’s National Athlete of the Week award.
