Northern Kentucky University’s Liz Holmes (Cincinnati, Ohio) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The senior outside hitter averaged 6.1 kills per game in wins over Rockhurst and Drury last week.

Holmes, who became Northern Kentucky’s all-time career kills leader over the weekend, attacked at a .474 clip in the two wins and averaged 3.86 digs per game. She converted an attack in the third game in the victory over Drury to claim the all-time kills crown and now has 1,714 kills for her career.

In NKU’s 3-0 win over Rockhurst on Thursday, Holmes posted 16 kills, 11 digs, four blocks, two assists and a service ace. She finished the contest with a hitting percentage of .429.

The Norse topped Drury, 3-1, on Friday with Holmes contributing a match-high 27 kills. She attacked at a .512 clip and finished the contest with 16 digs.

Holmes entered the weekend tied for the national lead in hitting percentage and currently carries a .474 average on the year. She is also averaging 4.6 kills and 2.74 digs per game this season.

Northern Kentucky (21-5, 10-3 GLVC) is ranked 25th in the latest CSTV/AVCA NCAA Division II National Poll and will look to extend its current four-match winning streak as it concludes a five-match homestand this weekend.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included: Lewis’ Kim Richards and Ashlee Lindish, Rockhurst’s Rachel Fowler, SIU Edwardsville’s Kate Hofeldt, UIndy’s Beth Robbins and UW-Parkside’s Kristin Schmidt.
