Rockhurst University junior forward Mitch Moncada and Maryville University freshman goalkeeper Christian Kjaersgaard have earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in the sport of men's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Moncada was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Kjaersgaard was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Moncada scored seven points on three goals and one assist in two home wins this past weekend. Rockhurst opened the week with a 3-2 overtime win past Indianapolis Friday where the junior scored the game-winner in the 92nd minute. He followed up that performance with a two-goal, one-assist effort in a 9-0 blowout of Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon to total seven points over the weekend.
This is the Springfield, Mo., native's first career weekly honor and the second offensive Hawk to garner the nod this season as Claudio Romano was chosen on September 14.
