A pair of Quincy University sophomores, forward Mackenzie Rief and goalkeeper Megan Swanson, have been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in the sport of women's soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Rief was selected GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Swanson was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.
Swanson produced her second straight week of scoreless soccer for the Hawks, who defeated McKendree 1-0 and Illinois Springfield 3-0. The sophomore made eight saves on the week, tallying four stops in each game. Swanson has shut out the last four opponents and has not allowed a goal in 420:51 as QU has won its last five games. She leads the GLVC with a .873 save percentage and also carries a 0.63 goals against average, 62 saves and seven shutouts.
The St. Charles, Mo., product earns her third career weekly honor and the second of this season as she was chosen as the first defensive honoree of 2015 on September 7.
