University of Indianapolis freshman Vitor Botana and Truman State University sophomore Nikki Sisson have been named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Athletes of the Week in the sports of men's and women's swimming and diving, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Botana competed in his first college race at the Indiana Intercollegiate held at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center on the campus of Purdue University. He placed first in both the 200 and 500 freestyle and was a member of the 200 free relay team that finished third. The freshman's efforts aided the Greyhounds to a 2nd-place finish among the field of mostly Division I opponents, including 1st-place Purdue, University of Evansville, IUPUI, and Valparaiso.
This is the first career weekly award for the São Paulo, Brazil, native and the first for a male Hound since Justin Rossillo earned the honor on January 21, 2014.
