Missouri S&T senior middle hitter Krista Haslag and Rockhurst University senior right side hitter Alyssa Arnold have earned Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in the sport of volleyball, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Haslag was named Baden/GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Arnold was selected Baden/Defensive Player of the Week.
Haslag led S&T to a pair of wins this past weekend, hitting .360. In the 3-2 win against Bellarmine she had five kills in each of the first three sets to go along with six digs and five total blocks (1 solo, 4, assisted). The 22 kills were a career-high as she finished the match with four in the fourth set and three more in the finale. Against Southern Indiana on Saturday she helped lead the team to its first ever unbeaten home record, recording 10 kills with four of those coming in the fourth set. The senior also had a solo and an assisted block in that set as the Miners held off a late charge from the Screaming Eagles to win 3-1. She is now five kills shy of becoming the school's career record holder.
This is the Linn, Mo., native's third career weekly honor and second offensive Miner selected this season as Gracey Moon was chosen September 28.
