The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) has named University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior Kyle Kolberg its GLVC Men's Golf Player of the Month for September, it was announced Wednesday. Kolberg earned the honor following a vote from the league's men's golf coaches.
The Mosinee, Wis., native played in five rounds over the course of three tournaments last month and averaged 72.6 strokes.
Kolberg earned medalist honors at the Midwest Regional at Harborside with a 69-73--142 to beat the field of 158 players. He also finished runner-up in the other two tournaments, including the AMFAM Fall Invitational where he was four strokes back of the medalist with a 74-72--146 and the Ranger/Puma Dual where he was just one shot back of the winner with a 75.
His efforts helped the Rangers tie Saint Joseph's at the Ranger/Puma Dual, while the team was tied for 13 of 31 at the MW Regional and fourth of six at the AMFAM Invite.
This monthly honor is the first career selection for the senior, and he becomes the first Ranger to ever be chosen.
