McKendree junior middle hitter Sophie Fairman and Lewis University junior libero Nicole Yuede have earned Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors in the sport of volleyball, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Fairman was named Baden/GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while Yuede was selected Baden/Defensive Player of the Week.
Yuede had a stellar weekend, recording a stout 8.88 digs per set, totaling 71 in two matches. On Saturday, her 42 digs against Truman State was a match-high and are a rally scoring-era record for the Flyers. Additionally, Lewis' 127 digs against TSU are the most in a match since the team recorded 132 against Indianapolis on Nov. 16, 2007 in the NCAA Tournament. Also of note, matches were played to 30 points in a set that year, rather than the current 25. Against the Bulldogs the libero also recorded a .903 receiving percentage on 31 attempts and added a .818 serve percentage. Lewis swept Quincy 3-0 on Friday, and the junior tallied 29 kills to go along with a .900 receiving percentage.
The St. Charles, Mo., product garners her second career weekly honor and the second of this season as she was first selected October 19.
