Lewis University redshirt-senior guard Jamie Johnson has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.

In 70 minutes of work, Johnson averaged 22.0 points and 4.5 assists per game, including a 9.0 assists/turnover ratio, to lead the Flyers to two wins in the 2015-16 opening weekend. Lewis topped regional foe Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, 65-56, before beating another in-region opponent in Northwood 78-57 on Sunday.

The reigning GLVC Player of the Year got the season premiere started with 21 points on 9-of-18 (.500) from the field, adding two assists and as many rebounds against SVSU. She one-upped herself against Northwood the next day, scoring 23 points and dishing out seven helpers while shooting 60 percent from behind the arc.

The South Holland, Ill., native earns her third career weekly honor and is the first Flyer selected since teammate Mariyah Brawner-Henley earned the nod January 5, 2015.
