University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior guard Andy Mazurczak has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men’s basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Mazurczak finished the week averaging 21.0 points, 7.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, helping the Rangers topple a pair of opponents to remain undefeated on the young season.
The Norridge, Illinois native had a milestone game in a 103-53 win against Silver Lake last Tuesday, piling on 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting in just 23 minutes of action while surpassing the 1,000-point barrier and moving to fourth on the all-time career assists list. Four days later he tallied 22 points and eight assists while shooting 8-of-11 from the field (72.7 percent) in the squad’s 99-81 win over Minnesota-Duluth.
For the week, Mazurczak shot 69.6 percent from the floor (16-of-23), including 80 percent from beyond the arc (4-of-5) and boasted an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.7.
Mazurczak earns his first career weekly selection and it is the first for a Ranger since Zygimantas Riauka on Jan. 5, 2015.
