Rockhurst University junior guard Mary Dineen has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Dineen averaged 19.0 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game, shooting 59.1% (13-of-22) from the field, 58.3% (7-of-12) from behind the arc and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line. Her numbers came in two wins to help Rockhurst remain undefeated in the early goings of 2015-16.
In a midweek tilt against preseason No. 24 Wayne State (Neb.), the guard dropped 24 points, six rebounds and four assists to go along with 61.5% (8-of-13) shooting and 62.5% (5-of-8) from long range. Her performance helped the Hawks upset the ranked Wildcats, 68-64. Three days later in a 64-49 win over Northwest Missouri State, Dineen scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting (.556). She also added six rebounds and one assist in 29 minutes on the floor.
The Omaha, Neb., native becomes the first Hawk selected in almost 10 years as Courtney Farmer was the last chosen on December 11, 2006.
