Lewis University’s Andrea Morrone (Palos Park, Ill.) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. The senior setter helped the Flyers to two victories, including a sweep of Indianapolis, ranked No. 17 nationally and No. 1 in the Great Lakes Region, on Saturday. The Lewis win snapped the Greyhounds’ 25 match-win streak.
On the week, Morrone averaged 14.2 assists, 2.0 kills and 4.6 digs per game. She hit .500 with seven kills and no errors, 48 assists and nine digs against Indianapolis. The senior helped the Flyers hit .333 as a team, the highest mark in over three years by a Greyhounds’ opponent.
In the Flyers’ sweep at Saint Joseph’s on Friday, Morrone posted 23 assists, 14 digs, three kills and one service ace in only two games of action.
She is averaging 12.51 assists, 3.05 digs and 1.65 kills per game for the Flyers on the season.
Lewis has won 13 of their last 14 matches and is now 24-3 and 14-2 in GLVC play. Lewis plays at Wisconsin-Parkside on Tuesday before returning home to play Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky this weekend.
