Lewis University sophomore forward Max Strus has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in men's basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.
In his lone game of the week last Wednesday, Strus scored 33 points on 13-of-23 (.565) shooting, while notching 12 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in 35 minutes of action during the Flyers' 83-67 win over Olivet Nazarene.
The effort gave Strus his sixth double-double of the season, a total that currently ties him for fifth among all NCAA Division II players. For the season, Strus is averaging a conference-best 25.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
The 2015 GLVC Freshman of the Year earns his second career weekly selection, as he was recognized by the league on Nov. 30, 2015, following a 52-point scoring effort that also led to USBWA Division II National Player of the Week honors.
