Lewis University’s Andrea Morrone (Palos Park, Ill.) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. The senior setter claimed the award for the second consecutive week after leading the Flyers to conference wins over UW-Parkside, Bellarmine and 23rd-ranked Northern Kentucky.
On the week, Morrone averaged 14.8 assists, 3.5 digs and 1.4 kills per game.
In the Flyers’ sweep at UW-Parkside on Tuesday, Morrone posted 45 assists, 12 digs, two kills, two blocks and a service ace.
She opened a weekend homestand with 40 assists, eight digs and four kills in Lewis’ 3-0 win over Bellarmine on Friday and returned on Saturday in the Flyers’ 3-1 win over Northern Kentucky to add 63 assists, 15 digs and eight kills.
Morrone is averaging 12.78 assists, 3.12 digs and 1.59 kills per game on the season and has helped the Flyers post an 11-match winning streak.
Lewis (27-3) finished the regular season with a 17-2 mark in GLVC play. The Flyers are seeded second in the GLVC East Division for the upcoming GLVC Tournament. Lewis will face Missouri-St. Louis in the first round of the tourney hosted by the University of Indianapolis this weekend. 3-1 win over Northern Kentucky to add 63 assists, 15 digs and eight kills.
