McKendree University freshman sprinter DeMontez McCray and Lewis University sophomore multi-event specialist Bryce Holesinger have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Wednesday. 

McCray met the NCAA provisional standard in the 200 meters at the UIndy Winter Break Meet this past week with his runner-up time of 22.16 seconds.  His time converted to 21.77, which currently ranks him first in the GLVC and tied for fourth among NCAA Division II speedsters.  McCray also ran to fourth place in the 400 meters with a time of 51.72, which currently ranks in the league.

This is the first weekly honor for the O’Fallon, Illinois native, and the first for a Bearcat in the indoor season since Cameron James was recognized as Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 27, 2015.
