Lewis University senior forward Mariyah Brawner-Henley has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Brawner-Henley turned in her best weekly performance yet, averaging 29.0 points on 22-of-35 (.629) shooting, 14.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks to lead No. 7 Lewis to two wins, including a 67-63 league victory at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.

The senior opened her dominant two-game performance in the team's 81-60 win over visiting NAIA school Cumberland on Wednesday by breaking a 30-year, all-time Lewis rebound record previously set in 1985 by Julie Fruendt (1981-85). The senior needed just 10 boards to break the mark, and she pulled in 12 while also scoring 28 points (10-of-19, .526). She additionally added two blocks and three steals while shooting .700 (7-of-10) from the foul line.

Facing Parkside, the forward netted 30 points on 12-of-16 shooting (.750) while adding a season-high 16 rebounds and also drained 5-of-7 (.714) free throws. The effort was her second double-double of the week to make it 10 on the season and 59 in her career.

After Saturday's 16, the Skokie, Ill., native now holds 1,062 career rebounds and leads the league with 146 overall and 11.2 per game.

Brawner-Henley claims her second weekly honor of the season and seventh of her career, earning the first selection this season Dec. 7, 2015.
